David (aka Local the Neighbour) did an excessive amount of training to be a jazz drummer at the 'Victorian College of the Arts' and 'UCLA' (Los Angles). After an early quarter life crisis, David made a ‘jexit’ (jazz exit), realising he wanted  to return back to his roots of playing rock music like his favourite childhood bands. From there he began playing with artists such as Fan Girl,  JIM ALXNDR, and recently going on to join the indie-rock band  Garage Sale as their new drummer.

Armed with these experiences and approaches, Local the Neighbour was born in  order to explore the world of production and songwriting not as a drummer; the  ultimate outlet for David to live out his artistic creative endeavors. With DIY at its  core, the music is always self recorded with the help of close friends within his  community. Local the Neighbour takes influence from artists like MJ Lenderman, Alex G, Paramore, Hovvdy and Slow Pulp and have recently supported U.S legends REAL ESTATE at the iconic Prince Bandroom in Melbourne.
