How To Get In And Out

Resident Access Pass

Residents living in either Area 1, Area 1A, Area 1B or Area 1C will be supplied with a vehicle access pass. Please fill in your vehicle registration details section of this pass and apply it to the passenger side dashboard of your vehicle.

Passes will be delivered in the week beginning 16 January 2017. Should you have more than one vehicle and require a second vehicle access pass please contact ASSIST at the City of Port Phillip on 9209 6777.

Please Note: Due to operational security, no vehicle will gain access to the secured residential Areas 1, 1A, 1B, or 1C without a Festival Vehicle Access Pass. Vehicles without this pass on Festival Sunday will be turned away from security checkpoints.

Please ensure you have been issued appropriate passes, for all of your required vehicles, well prior to Festival Sunday to ensure access to secured areas is permitted.

Designated access points:

Area 1 – corner of Grey and Barkly St

Area 1A – corner of Carlisle and Barkly St

Area 1B - Fitzroy St - entering from Lakeside Dr

Area 1C – Corner of Princes and Barkly

Vehicle check points will be installed at these locations.

Special Needs Access

Residents with any special needs access requirements, such as carer access, should contact the Festival Accreditation Manager via ASSIST on 9209 6777.

Local Business Access

With many road closures in place on St Kilda Festival Sunday, 12 February 2017, some local businesses may find some access restrictions to their premises in place.

Some planning may be required to ensure your suppliers have delivered your required stocks on the Saturday before Festival Sunday or on Sunday prior to the road closure time of 5am. Suppliers and staff vehicles will not be able to access the road closure area between 5am and midnight.

Taxi

Taxis will not be able to enter into the road closure or resident permit area on Festival Sunday. There will be 2 temporary Taxi Rank locations, which will be positioned at Lakeside Drive along the Junction Oval and Shakespeare Grove between Marine Parade and Spenser Street. The taxi rank located at the corner of Fitzroy Street and Acland Street will be operational once roads re open at the conclusion of the Festival.

Uber

To limit traffic within the road closures, the Uber App will prevent drivers picking up riders within the specified areas that have already been communicated with the affected residents. Uber will operate 2 primary pick up locations on the extremity of the festival precinct. One will be on Fitzroy St between Lakeside Drive and St Kilda Junction in the North and the other on Marine Parade near Donovans in the South.

Fitzroy Street

A full closure will be in place on Fitzroy St between the Metropol complex and The Esplanade and no access will be available between 5am and midnight. Further to this, Fitzroy Street from St Kilda Road down to Grey Street will be inaccessible to through traffic between 5am and midnight, and only vehicles with Festival approved access passes will be permitted entry at the checkpoint on Lakeside Drive.

Businesses located on the Northern side of Fitzroy St may have access to the rear of their premises maintained via the local traffic only area to the North of Fitzroy Street.

Businesses located on the Southern side of Fitzroy St may have access to the rear of their premises maintained via Jackson St, but a Festival Vehicle Access Pass will be required. Extra passes for staff members can only be issued if appropriate parking can be provided by the business premise and this can be demonstrated.

Acland Street

A full closure will be in place on Acland Street between Barkly Street and Carlisle Street and no access will be available between 5am and midnight.

Businesses located on the Western side of Acland Street may have access to the rear of their premises maintained via the local traffic only area to the West of Acland Street.

Businesses located on the Eastern side of Acland Street may have access to the rear of their premises maintained via Carlisle Street, Irwell Street and/or Albert Street, a Festival Vehicle Access Permit will be required. Extra permits for staff members can only be issued if appropriate parking can be provided by the business and this can be demonstrated.
