Hare Krishna Ratha Yatra Parade & Vedic Village | St Kilda Festival

Hare Krishna Ratha Yatra Parade & Vedic Village

The Ratha-yatra, or the Festival of the Chariots is perhaps the oldest continuously celebrated spiritual festival in the world.  The decorated chariots of Lord Jagannatha have rolled. People young and old sing and dance in the street in an ocean of overwhelming happiness. Hare Krishna devotees brought this tradition to the streets of big and small cities around the world. Each year thousands of people visited the Vedic Village after the Ratha Yatra procession and enjoyed the variety of entertainment on the main stage which ranged from traditional mantra music and Indian dance to contemporary Mantra rock and of course a good dose of Bollywood, clowns, magicians, dancing and much more.

In 2017 the Festival of the Chariot event will be bigger and better. Besides the professional stage presentations there will be funky Vedic merchandise, face painting and Henna decorations, free watermelon slices as usual,  Bhagavad Gita card readings and meditation booths and of course delicious vegetarian meals and snacks. So we welcome you all to experience The Festival of the Chariot.
